Tools needed:
Solder iron at least 25 watts, higher is better,
wire stripper/cutters, needle nose pliers
Fig. 1
1. Disconnect the + AND - Battery terminal from
the battery! I can't stress this enough...
2. If you are doing this on the vehicle: Good Luck!
First remove the heater box so you can get to the fuse holder.
3. Disconnect as many dash switches from the harness
as needed to allow the harnees to be dropped down a bit. Remove
the harness from the loom holders.
4. Locate the fuse holder and cut
the tape holding it to the harness. Slide the remaining pieces of
the fuse holder back to expose the rivets on the ends of the wires.
5. Clip off the existing fuse holder
wire rivets as close to the ends as possible.
6. Strip off 1/8" (4mm) of
insulation from the two wires and tin them with solder.
7. Now fill the rivets with solder
and set them aside.
8. Referring to Fig. 1, assemble
the pieces as shown. It does not matter which side the spring goes
on.
9. Pick up one of the rivets with
a pair of needle nose pliers. Heat the rivet until the solder melts
then push onto the end of the wire. Repeat for the other wire.
10. Insert the included fuse into
the holder, push the two sides together and twist to lock. Reinstall
everything.
